With the increase in the longevity of life, the aged as a group are not only assuming importance in our social, economic and political frame-work, but it is felt that they are socially vulnerable and need society’s intimate attention. Therefore this has become a subject of interest for our organization. Different modern socio-eco-friendly measurers have been taken by the organization for the welfare of the elderlies and such programs could be useful for their physical and psychological well being and development. We are running an Old Age Recreation Centre in West Delhi. We have vested interest in this field because; the status of the aged in our joint family system is changing. According to the family theorists, the joint family is undergoing changes due to the impact of urbanization, industrialization, shift in population from rural to urban areas, western education, diversification of occupation etc. The hard hit by these changes are old people. This leads to various psychosocial problems and social isolation.
TAMOHA celebrates old age day which aims to create a feeling among the aged that they are not alone in the society, to empower them and to spread awareness among the general public regarding the need and importance of caring our aged.
