The entrenched nature of constraints faced by women and limited sources of past government intervention have highlighted the need for new approaches to meet women’s diverse needs. The most important social innovation to help the poor in recent years has been the success of the thrift and credit based Self Help Groups (SHGs) especially those formed by women. TAMOHA has assisted to form a number of Self Help Groups in the regions of West Delhi, who have successfully developed a system of revolving credit for the benefit of group members based on their own savings. The SHGs are in the path of growth and have a major role in women empowerment.
